- I'm concerned about my mother's safety at home alone,
but I'm not sure she would agree to having help. What can I do to
introduce the idea, while considering her sensitivities?
- It's not uncommon for people, who are living independently, to
be wary of accepting help. Often they think it signals a loss of
independence, or they fear they won't personally like the person
helping them. We've found the key to working through these concerns
is establishing a strong rapport right from the start. A great way
to work through your mother's concern is to arrange for one of our
staff to come out and meet with you both to discuss the kind of
assistance we can offer and our approach to finding a great
match.
- How does Seniors! Inc. in Denver, Canon City, Pueblo,
and Trinidad select someone for my family member?
- We start by having one of our staff meet with the family to
discuss individual needs and important personality traits. Then, we
select someone who will be a good match in both areas. Read our
article on choosing a provider for
more information.
- Once I sign up with Seniors! Inc., what happens
next?
- If we haven't already provided an initial consultation, we will
arrange a convenient time to meet with you and your loved one to
determine the type and the frequency of service required and to
understand the best person for your needs. We will then select that
person and create a schedule. Our staff will arrive at the first
appointment ready to help and to start getting to know you
personally.
- What kind of training is provided by Seniors!
Inc.?
- Our training program covers numerous areas including: client
safety and emergency preparedness, specialized Dementia and
Alzheimer's training, client nutrition, and much more. Our staff is
required to attend at least six training sessions a year to
continually update their skills. The depth and thoroughness of our
ongoing instructional program is an important way in which Seniors!
Inc. stands out from other home health providers.
- How quickly can I arrange for service?
- We can usually make all arrangements and have someone on duty
within 24 hours.

- Is meal preparation included?
- Yes.
- Is house cleaning included?
- We provide light housekeeping such as dusting and cleaning up
after meal preparation, but not heavier, in-depth house cleaning.
Our focus is on home
health care for your loved one. If you have further needs, we
can refer you to reliable house-cleaning services.
- When you provide transportation, such as for doctor's
appointments and shopping, do you use the client's car or the
staff's car?
- We can use either, depending on your preference.
- Is there a minimum number of hours for your senior
care and home care in Denver?
- Our minimum visit is three hours per day in Denver.
- Are home
care services covered through Medicaid, Medicare or
insurance?
- Medicaid only pays for those who qualify. In Colorado, Medicaid
is available to those whose income is less than about $2,000 per
month and whose liquid assets are less than $2,000. In most cases,
Medicare will pay only for home care that follows a
hospitalization, and only for a certain number of days. Most
long-term-care insurance plans will pay for home care. Check your
long-term-care policy to see if home care is covered and when
coverage starts.
- Do you provide service for those in assisted living
facilities?
- Yes, our staff often serve as companions and provide other
assistance for clients who are in hospitals, assisted living
facilities, and nursing homes, with short-term or long-term
needs.
